My baby sister turned 30 this year (I know, not really a baby 🙂 ) so her best friend and I wanted to throw her a really cool, outta this world surprise birthday party. We had a few things to consider. 1- she just had her baby a few months ago and 2- it was dead of winter…ughhh. So we brain stormed on what we can do that would be super fantastic and crazy all at the same time. What better than a WONDER WOMAN themed party! It so happens that my sister loves her too! So of course I took care of the sweet table.

What I do first when planning my sweet tables is create a backdrop. This is my number one advise to you. Alway know what you’ll have as a backdrop. You can work your whole table around that backdrop. It doesn’t have to be a picture like this. Th focal point can be a garden, the beach, anything. Just always know what the backdrop would be. Planning goes so much smoother that way 🙂 ! It’s also pretty, it sets the mood and is a creative way to bring out the desserts on the table.

Laurie-Anne (best friend) was the super star in this! She had a friend draw my sister’s face onto wonder woman’s body in costume. We blew up the picture into poster size and our backdrop was created!

Isn’t this picture awesome!

Next I created her name to be placed on the table using wooden letters I bought at Wal Mart and glued comic strips to them. This is a really simple DIY. I used the rest of the comic and cut out some strips to add to frames as table centrepieces.

My desserts were all themed to Wonder Woman. It was super simple: blue, red, yellow and stars! I had so much fun going through the inspiration pictures on Pinterest and Google. I especially loved the super hero table that Michelle from Michelle’s Party Plan-It did! She is truly inspirational!

These are my desserts. The cupcake wrappers were made by enlarging Wonder Woman’s logo and cutting around it. The most popular of the night was the sugar cookies filled with cookie dough. TO DIE FOR!

Now for the piece de resistance: The birthday cake!

This was a labour of true love! The bottom tier were all cake pops and the top tier was an 8″ cake covered in fondant. The crown was cut out of paper glitter.

Here’s the table in all it’s glory!

All the guests were asked to wear a super hero costume or t-shirt to keep to the theme and the guest of honour was dressed in Wonder Woman herself. Needless to say it was a great party and my sister was truly surprised!

Thanks for stopping by and seeing another one of my creations!

May xo
