[:en]Halloween is almost among us and I had to get in on the fun of creating a really cool sweet table for this spooktacular holiday! I rounded up my kids and their friend, dressed them up in their halloween costume (no fuss there) and dangled all the chocolate they could have in front of them! I know bad mommy, lol. They did such an amazing job that in the end they were rewarded with all that chocolate.
My theme came to me in a DUH moment. Why not create a Halloween sweet table filled with everything chocolate? That’s how I came up with Halloween Chocolate Bar. I recruited some of my mommy friends and Lauri-Anne from Laurel Grace Photography and got to work.
First I chose my colour palette: orange, black, brown, white and silver. My decor would be in orange and black and the items on the table would be brown aka chocolate. For my backdrop, I created it using paper fans, honeycombs, spiders and web. The decorating part was easy as it’s pretty much what I have at home from previous years. I did do some shopping 🙂 you’ll see that as you read on.
I was able to use my mason jars from previous photo shoots and added some glitter stems and pumpkins that I bought at Michaels. My DIY for my centrepiece was using a dollar store frame, painting the cardboard in black chalk finish and the frame in orange and glitter. It gave me a beautiful tray that I placed my mason jar and stems on.
My Girlfriend Alexandria Short from Funky Monkey Designs created all the printables to this party. She was a dream to work with. Alexandra took into consideration my colour palette and my love for glitter and just ran with it!
My long time friend Earleen from Sweeter by the Dozen – Ottawa, is my cookie master. She did such an amazing job, creating the base of the cookies in chocolate to go with the theme. We’ve been trying to collaborate for a bit now and finally had a chance to. I look forward to our next project!
Roxy, my go to cake artist, really completed the look of the table with the spiders crawling up the cake. Too cute and creepy, with the amazing picture of the witch flying over the cake!
So before the kids can go crazy on chocolate, I had a little project for them. I bought them each a small pumpkin to decorate with felt facial expressions. These can be bought at your local dollar store. It’s a fun activity and one they can place on their front porch after they were done. They had a great time!
It was an amazing day to watch the fun and craziness of the kids from dressing up to having a great time creating pumpkin faces! Thanks to Laurie-Anne for her patience! God knows kids and candy are a terrifying combination!
