Nautical Theme Sweet Table

Nautical Theme Sweet Table

This past January I finally got the chance to create a Nautical themed sweet table. You have no idea how excited I was! I don’t create many boy themed parties. Most of my requests are for girl themed/ color sweet tables.

What comes next when you have a new table set up to do? Shopping, of course! I found some really cool table decor at Michael’s (who wouldn’t). I got to spend some time roaming the aisles of my favorite craft store 🙂 .

I also found another store that carries themed home decor at a mall near my house. They had so many Nautical themed items, I was so happy! My bank account… not so much.

I purchased some DIY items, like the light house I painted. I added some shells and sand in glass bottles. This was by far an easy table to set up. I added cupcakes, cake pops, macarons and sugar cookies all in the theme colors.

The cake was made by a friend of the family. I think she did an amazing job! She captured all the little details of the theme 🙂

Galentines Day Celebration

Galentines Day Celebration

This year, if you’re not celebrating Valentines Day with a significant other, don’t worry we’ve got something special for you! Why not grab the girls and head out on the town celebrating your besties on Galentines Day!

That’s exactly what we did. Remember, no men allowed on this night out 🙂

We invited the girls to meet at one of the trendy restaurants in the Old Port of Montreal. The old Port is bursting with amazing culinary greatness! So many of the chefs are local celebrities, having been featured or even stared in their very own food network show.

The restaurant had a beautiful wall that was bursting with the most amazing red florals! It went perfectly with the night we wanted to have.

We had such an great time toasting and laughing together. An all out girls night!

We moved the party to the next room where we were treated to the most amazing sweet table! Can’t have a Galentines Day celebration without chocolate and sweets 🙂

The love you have for your girls is different compared to that of your significant other, but strong none the less. They are there for you through the bad times and good, through the crying times and the laughable moments and through whatever life throws at you. You can always count on them.

I’ll cheers to that!

Have a wonderful party and until the next table, stay sweet!

Christmas Sweet Table

Christmas Sweet Table

It’s been a while since my last blog post, and I’m so sorry about that. It’s been a hectic few months and am now catching my breath. I have to say it’s been a beautiful hectic and I wouldn’t change it for anything else. This is probably a year in review post on top of my latest christmas sweet table post.

This year has been a mix of amazing, not so great and blessed moments. What I know is that the not so great moments have led to the amazing ones and will continue to carry me on my path. I am starting to learn that to get to where you need to be, you must first endure the bad moments that will allow the great ones to shine through. Just be patient and kind, it will come. I have been blessed to have met so many amazing women entrepreneurs that believe in helping each other and holding each other up. I definitely believe that 2016 will be a beautiful year, filled with amazing opportunities, growth and friendships. Both for me personally as well as professionally. Chocolata will see amazing things happen to her 🙂

So now on to my Christmas sweet table blog post 🙂

Every year, my siblings and I gather the kids together and have them pose for their annual picture. This is probably one of the only times we can get them together looking nice and spiffy. God and Moms know this struggle all to well. Bonus: no fighting and struggling, just all around smiles. This probably has to do with the fact that they were rewarded with cake pops after all was said and done.

I got to work with Melissa from Bella Photography for the first time, and she was amazing. She came highly recommended from my sister that used her in the past for most of her family portraits. She’s non traditional and has a way with the kids. She was able to have both toddlers participating and smiling.  Absolute plus in my books 🙂 Oh, and all this took place in less than an hour. Phew!

Here are some of my favourite shots:

And here’s the pretty shots of my Christmas Sweet Table:

Have a wonderful holiday break! I wish you health, happiness and blessings.

How to style a sweet table – creating a backdrop

How to style a sweet table – creating a backdrop

I hope you enjoyed reading my first instalment on « How to style a sweet table » . I’m constantly thinking of new themes to come up with for upcoming shoots and events. My brain is constantly running :). If it’s all so new to you, start off with a colour palette. Those make a great theme no matter who the party is for.

The next thing you’re going to want to do is decide on the backdrop to your table. I find that a backdrop will add more character and emphasize your theme. There are so many ideas for backdrops, its crazy. If you follow my blog and the tables that i’ve created, you’ll see that I don’t shy away from the bold and unique. And they don’t have to cost a lot either. The most I’ve spent on a backdrop was $20. And that’s having it printed at Costco. (Yes, Costco is a life saver for so many things!)

Here is the Monster High Backdrop that was printed as poster size format:

I found this world map on Instagram while scrolling through my feed. I had to have it for the baby shower theme » Welcome to the World » I was creating for my sister. I spiced it up with some pin wheels. One very simple DIY, but time consuming.

For Valentine’s Day, I created a backdrop with paper rosettes and roses. That actually took a lot of time to make. If you want to go the DIY route, I highly suggest in preplanning. You want to know what you’re going to create and give yourself about a week leeway time. You never know what will come up and if it will end up the way you want it. This way, if you don’t like the outcome, you still have time to create or buy something else.

But my favorite spot to create a sweet table is outside. What better backdrop then the ocean, woods or city scape to add character to your sweet table!

My wedding styled photo shoot was right in my backyard. I loved the fact that I used the woods right outside my door to create a wimsical feel.

There are so many ways to create something unique and sweet for your table. A striking backdrop is the perfect element to incorporate your creativeness (as per my idol Amy Atlas). Why not show it off with a spectacular backdrop to go with your theme!

Until the next table, stay sweet 🙂

Monster High Sweet Table

Monster High Sweet Table

Ooff! It’s been a little while since I last posted. It’s been pretty busy around here, with planning my daughter’s 6th birthday party and trying to figure out this year’s theme.

This year, she (as in me) decided to have a Monster High party and create a Monster High sweet table. Their latest movie Haunted High, is packed full of new characters, a to die for story line and some pretty cool graphics. When the halls of monster high exhibit a strange phenomena, the ghouls get transformed into ghosts to investigate the mystery in the supernatural realm. Enter the ghost powders and detention chains. It totally gave me a really cool idea using Porter Geist’s graffiti from the movie as the backdrop for the sweet table.

I asked a couple of my friends to help me out with the backdrop. I had one friend write out my daughter’s name in graffiti lettering and another create the backdrop infusing a scene from the movie with the name in graffiti. Not only was this a backdrop, but is now hanging on her bedroom as a souvenir and wall decor.

I used the colours from the movie: purple, turquoise and pink. I absolutely love that color combo! They just mesh so nicely together. With that colour palet in mind, I created a tulle table skirt. Just a tip: a lot of your halloween decor might work great with a monster high party. I used my halloween black glitter tree as a pice on the table. Another tip that I learned from watching one of my party mentor’s style her tables, is use the dolls that you have as part of the decor on the table. Tonya from Soiree Event Design never shies away from adding the dolls to her sweet tables. It totally saved me from buying all kinds of things that I probably wouldn’t have used after this party.

Here are some of the yummy desserts and cake I made for the party!

And here’s the party girl as a beautiful 6 year old!

I hope I was able to give you some ideas for your next birthday party!

Until the next sweet table!
