Fun for the little ones – Christmas Dessert Table

Fun for the little ones – Christmas Dessert Table

There are only 30 days until Christmas! Are you ready for family? For Santa? This year, I decided to take my sweet table act on the road and collaborate with my family and friends. I went to Ottawa, Ontario and got some pretty cool and talented people together for this fun and really cute Christmas Styled Dessert Table.

This year’s theme was all about the kids. I got the little cousins together for a fun shoot to be able to surprise my parents with a beautiful photo of their grandkids. I set up a dessert table and a kids dinner table. I adorned the table with some flowers from Stoneblossom Floral  Gallery. Lynette was so great and helpful. She did an amazing job putting together an arrangement to go with my theme.

Fur Real Friends Pom Pom Baby Panda

Fur Real Friends Pom Pom Baby Panda

*I am part of the PTPA Brand Ambassador Program with Hasbro and I received compensation as part of my affiliation with this group. The opinions on this blog are my own.*

I was so excited to be reviewing the Pom Pom Baby Panda, that I decided to surprise my kids with the toy. What better way to reveal it to them than with a cute sweet table designed and styled around it. I went with the colours of the panda and added some fans as the backdrop. It turned out adorable!

Halloween Chocolate Bar Sweet Table

Halloween Chocolate Bar Sweet Table

Halloween is almost among us and I had to get in on the fun of creating a really cool sweet table for this spooktacular holiday! I rounded up my kids and their friend, dressed them up in their halloween costume (no fuss there) and dangled all the chocolate they could have in front of them! I know bad mommy, lol. They did such an amazing job that in the end they were rewarded with all that chocolate.

My theme came to me in a DUH moment. Why not create a Halloween sweet table filled with everything chocolate? That’s how I came up with Halloween Chocolate Bar. I recruited some of my mommy friends and Lauri-Anne from Laurel Grace Photography and got to work.

First I chose my colour palette: orange, black, brown, white and silver. My decor would be in orange and black and the items on the table would be brown aka chocolate. For my backdrop, I created it using paper fans, honeycombs, spiders and web.  The decorating part was easy as it’s pretty much what I have at home from previous years. I did do some shopping 🙂 you’ll see that as you read on.

Arabian Night Theme Sweet Table

This past January, I took part in a bridal show, setting up a sweet table showcasing to brides to be. I didn’t want to go with the usual flower and vintage theme. Thank God I didn’t, cause pretty much everyone in that place had some sort of decor to that theme. Don’t get me wrong, it’s a beautiful theme and one that I would love to create. But in a sea of vendors that are going after the same customers, I wanted to stand out. I wanted to catch their eye and I wanted them to see what I could create with any theme!

My parents are very proud to be Lebanese and Syrian, but are very thankful they immigrated to Canada in the 70’s seeking a better life to start their family. They were my inspiration and go to for info and decor for this theme. I wanted to show an authenticity to the table as well. A lot of my decor items I borrowed from my parents home, some dating back to the 70’s, brought back as keepsakes. My colour palette was simple. I went with Pantone’s colour of the year Orchid and combined that with gold.

A sister’s love – Frozen sweet table

A sister’s love – Frozen sweet table

By now, everyone, yes everyone should either know the lyrics to “Let it go” or at least the names of the characters. Like all the little girls, my daughter was obsessed! I mean OBSESSED! As soon as she saw the movie, she knew what her party theme would be. And she told me that for 6 months straight.

With all the parties floating around the net, I was trying to go for something a little different, yet simple. I wanted to create a table around the love of sisters. Growing up, I was really close with mine. We’re 4 girls and 2 boys in the family. My parents always taught us to be united and that we only really had each other. I want my girls to have that same bond. I want them to be able to talk to each other, to be able to confide in each other when they can’t come to us. You’ll see in the pictures, their love and camaraderie come through! It makes a mommy very proud!

My colour pallet was based off Elsa and Anna’s dresses: blue, silver and purple. I was really lucky to get the backdrop from my daughter’s school. They have the most amazing things for crafts. I added silver snowflakes and tulle draping.

Super 30th Birthday Party

My baby sister turned 30 this year (I know, not really a baby 🙂 ) so her best friend and I wanted to throw her a really cool, outta this world surprise birthday party. We had a few things to consider. 1- she just had her baby a few months ago and 2- it was dead of winter…ughhh. So we brain stormed on what we can do that would be super fantastic and crazy all at the same time. What better than a WONDER WOMAN themed party! It so happens that my sister loves her too! So of course I took care of the sweet table.

What I do first when planning my sweet tables is create a backdrop. This is my number one advise to you. Alway know what you’ll have as a backdrop. You can work your whole table around that backdrop. It doesn’t have to be a picture like this. Th focal point can be a garden, the beach, anything. Just always know what the backdrop would be. Planning goes so much smoother that way 🙂 ! It’s also pretty, it sets the mood and is a creative way to bring out the desserts on the table.

Laurie-Anne (best friend) was the super star in this! She had a friend draw my sister’s face onto wonder woman’s body in costume. We blew up the picture into poster size and our backdrop was created!
