Boho Sweet Table

Boho Sweet Table

This past weekend, I had the privilege of being a vendor at the first ever Boho inspired wedding festival in Montreal, QC, Le Coeur Boheme. It was by far one of the best wedding shows I have had the pleasure of being a part of. I created a boho sweet table that I was so proud of!

I got to meet other professionals within the wedding industry that cater not only to the Boho bride but also the modern, eclectic and not your typical couple. From jewelry to wedding dresses to cakes and photographers. There was something for everyone!

I want to thank Vola from DVF Events for creating the beautiful flower centrepieces, greenery and for telling me that I NEEDED to have the Protea flower along side my desserts! I’m so happy she convinced me as it was the talk of many that stopped by my booth! To the beautiful Marilou from Kyoto Fleurs for lending me her arch to allow me to create this beautiful backdrop! Thank you to Creations by Jazzmine Rose for the signs and cake topper! And to my baby girl for helping me make the macrame backdrop! My truest of inspirations when it comes to my business 🙂

Thank you to the beautiful Koly of La Palette K for taking such pretty pictures of my booth!

Modern Christmas Sweet Table

Modern Christmas Sweet Table

Welcome back to our second inspiration sweet table for your holiday parties! If you read last week, I touched on the traditional colors of red and green to create a simple DIY sweet table for your party. This week we’re going to put away tradition and get on trend with everything metallic! Shades of silver and gold are your best friends this season. I’ll show you how to pair up these colors so that it doesn’t look like a strobe light is going off in your house when your guests walk in.

Jingle all the way!

fullsizeoutput_2eb4

Look how pretty it looks all together! Once again I used wrapping paper for the backdrop. I got this pretty one from Walmart. This roll was $5. I covered the wall the length of my table, or just about. My ornaments are from years past and my golden trees and reindeers are new. LOVE mixing old and new together. I feel like it gives the older items a whole new life.

Once you’re done with the sweet table, the tree cones and reindeer can be placed as a centrepiece in your living area or dining table. They are such great decorative pieces, functional for any room.

Lastly you get to add bling to your desserts! Don’t be afraid to you use toppers on your cupcakes and cake. I went with the metallic cupcake cups to give it more of a pop. I purchased mine here. But I’m sure any of your cake supplie stores have them.

A great modern piece to use on your table are these geometric candle holders. Geo is all the rage right now and can be incorporated into a modern and trendy sweet table like this one. I also scattered fake snow and ornaments to finish off the look.

Don’t be afraid to try something new this holiday season! Leave a comment below and let me know what color combination you’re going with this year. I’d love to hear from you!

Until the next table, stay sweet!

Easiest Christmas Dessert Table Set Up

Easiest Christmas Dessert Table Set Up

“Tis the season to be joyful and going crazy with shopping, cooking, entertaining and everything in between! I’ve come up with some simple and pretty dessert table set ups for your holiday parties either with family, friends or work. This week I’ll start with the first of the 3 that I created. This one is very traditional, going with green and red for a color palette.

Peace on Earth

Let’s start with the backdrop. This was such a simple and cost effective idea that anyone can do. I used wrapping paper I found at Michaels in their dollar bin. You really don’t need much. The rest can be used to wrap gifts with 🙂 I also borrowed a vintage looking window from a friend. It gave it that dimension I’m always looking for on a sweet table.

The rest of the decor are items I have from previous years decorations. You can use pine cones, candles, ornaments, lights. There are so many ideas out there if you just google it.

The desserts can either be made or bought. I love baking, so these are all home made. But don’t feel like you have to if you don’t have the time. Why not have your guests bring some of their favorites over and place them on your table. Just give them your colour palette and let them get creative!

I wish you a beautiful Christmas season and hope to see you next week for my second inspiration dessert table!

Turning your sweet table into a favour table

Turning your sweet table into a favour table

This past summer I had the privilege of working with Micheline and Sami on creating a glamorous sweet table with the colours pink, silver and blush. There was one catch though. Because they were holding their reception at the Ritz-Carleton Montreal, the desserts had to be individually packaged and set out so that the guests were able to take it to their table without much work from the staff. So we had to turn this sweet table into a favour table that all the guests would be able to take home desserts!

They decided to have cupcakes packed in clear boxes, cake pops individually packaged, small mason jars filled with candy almonds tagged with their name and wedding date, dessert shots, macaron tower and a Ferro Rocher tower. You can customize your own table with your favorite desserts. The possibilities are endless!

I also used sequins linens to add glamour and have this table stand out.

We were also featured on the Elegant Wedding Blog recently. You can have a look at the rest of the beautiful wedding here!

Nautical Theme Sweet Table

Nautical Theme Sweet Table

This past January I finally got the chance to create a Nautical themed sweet table. You have no idea how excited I was! I don’t create many boy themed parties. Most of my requests are for girl themed/ color sweet tables.

What comes next when you have a new table set up to do? Shopping, of course! I found some really cool table decor at Michael’s (who wouldn’t). I got to spend some time roaming the aisles of my favorite craft store 🙂 .

I also found another store that carries themed home decor at a mall near my house. They had so many Nautical themed items, I was so happy! My bank account… not so much.

I purchased some DIY items, like the light house I painted. I added some shells and sand in glass bottles. This was by far an easy table to set up. I added cupcakes, cake pops, macarons and sugar cookies all in the theme colors.

The cake was made by a friend of the family. I think she did an amazing job! She captured all the little details of the theme 🙂

Galentines Day Celebration

Galentines Day Celebration

This year, if you’re not celebrating Valentines Day with a significant other, don’t worry we’ve got something special for you! Why not grab the girls and head out on the town celebrating your besties on Galentines Day!

That’s exactly what we did. Remember, no men allowed on this night out 🙂

We invited the girls to meet at one of the trendy restaurants in the Old Port of Montreal. The old Port is bursting with amazing culinary greatness! So many of the chefs are local celebrities, having been featured or even stared in their very own food network show.

The restaurant had a beautiful wall that was bursting with the most amazing red florals! It went perfectly with the night we wanted to have.

We had such an great time toasting and laughing together. An all out girls night!

We moved the party to the next room where we were treated to the most amazing sweet table! Can’t have a Galentines Day celebration without chocolate and sweets 🙂

The love you have for your girls is different compared to that of your significant other, but strong none the less. They are there for you through the bad times and good, through the crying times and the laughable moments and through whatever life throws at you. You can always count on them.

I’ll cheers to that!

Have a wonderful party and until the next table, stay sweet!

Christmas Sweet Table

Christmas Sweet Table

It’s been a while since my last blog post, and I’m so sorry about that. It’s been a hectic few months and am now catching my breath. I have to say it’s been a beautiful hectic and I wouldn’t change it for anything else. This is probably a year in review post on top of my latest christmas sweet table post.

This year has been a mix of amazing, not so great and blessed moments. What I know is that the not so great moments have led to the amazing ones and will continue to carry me on my path. I am starting to learn that to get to where you need to be, you must first endure the bad moments that will allow the great ones to shine through. Just be patient and kind, it will come. I have been blessed to have met so many amazing women entrepreneurs that believe in helping each other and holding each other up. I definitely believe that 2016 will be a beautiful year, filled with amazing opportunities, growth and friendships. Both for me personally as well as professionally. Chocolata will see amazing things happen to her 🙂

So now on to my Christmas sweet table blog post 🙂

Every year, my siblings and I gather the kids together and have them pose for their annual picture. This is probably one of the only times we can get them together looking nice and spiffy. God and Moms know this struggle all to well. Bonus: no fighting and struggling, just all around smiles. This probably has to do with the fact that they were rewarded with cake pops after all was said and done.

I got to work with Melissa from Bella Photography for the first time, and she was amazing. She came highly recommended from my sister that used her in the past for most of her family portraits. She’s non traditional and has a way with the kids. She was able to have both toddlers participating and smiling.  Absolute plus in my books 🙂 Oh, and all this took place in less than an hour. Phew!

Here are some of my favourite shots:

And here’s the pretty shots of my Christmas Sweet Table:

Have a wonderful holiday break! I wish you health, happiness and blessings.

Power Rangers Styled Sweet Table

Power Rangers Styled Sweet Table

Summer has come and gone, and we’ve had a successful first week of school.

This summer my youngest turned 4. He’s been planning his birthday party and sweet table all year, changing his mind several times about what he wanted for a theme. He started off with the usual super hero theme, then wanted a lego theme, after that it was something to do with cars. He finally settled on the Power Rangers! Not only was he happy with his final choice, but so were his sister, uncle, aunts and cousins. I can tell you that we are all huge Power Ranger fans, spanning the 20 years they have been on the scene.

My youngest brother is especially the biggest fan out of all of us, as he has so much paraphernalia ranging from the dolls, morpher, cards, you name it. It was also exciting cause I got to use them as props on the table! Now how cool is that!

I set up the table outside, just like where the action would take place in the show. I also added the different Rangers from the previous and current shows: Original Power Rangers, Mega Force, Samurai, Dino Charge.

I made the cakes with the Samurai symbols on the front:

And here are how the rest of the props looked on the table. I’m lucky to have a brother that is obsessed with them, as it saved me tons of money in the purchase department 🙂

And here are the boys in all their glory. It’s Morphin Time!

Until the next table, stay sweet!

Welcome to Chocolata.ca

Welcome to Chocolata.ca

I’m so happy to share with you all my revamped brand and website! This is a really exciting time, as this process took a few months to complete. You’ll notice the same logo but with a fresh look. You’ll also notice the colour changes and the added glitter. Of course we had to add glitter! I’d like to think that I leave a little sparkle every where I go 🙂

The process started with me looking for a designer. I didn’t realize the expense that would go into this, so I turned to etsy to see if they had any shop owners that worked with branding and websites. I found tons! And at a very reasonable price too. Etsy has been my go to website since for any graphics and designs that I’ve needed. Here is my revamped logo:

NEW-Updated-LogoI also found my website designer on Etsy. She worked so hard to get it just the way I wanted it. She took all my likes and made me this gorgeous site! I encourage you to take a look around and tell me what you think. I’d love your feedback!

Next, I added a new line to my services. It’s called Party in a Box. These are DIY sweet tables for busy moms, hostesses, party planners or any one that would love a sweet table at their next event but don’t have time or the budget to create one.

Party in a Box come already “baked” with desserts and cake, as well as essential party decor and accessories. There are 4 sizes to choose from, depending on the number of people attending. I’ve created 5 themes that would go great with any party!

* All photos courtesy of Photographie MK Photography

So in order to launch my new site, I’m doing 2 giveaways.

This week, I’m giving away a “Mini Party in a Box” to a local fan (Montreal, QC and surrounding area). They would be entitled to choose one of our 5 themes for an upcoming party they may have. I hope you’ll enter and share with your friends and family 🙂

Next week, I’m giving away a really cool prize for International fans, so check back soon!

Valentine’s Day Sweet Table – Love Story

This styled Valentine’s Day sweet table was beyond my expectations. The background to this table was set up at the very up and coming restaurant called Clover Food Drink. It’s the newest restaurant to open in the Ottawa area, serving locally sourced and organic food. It’s been receiving rave reviews with it’s attentive service, honest food and simple and humble surrounding. I had the honour of meeting West, chef and owner, and I was touched by her advice and support for a fellow entrepreneur.

Love was truly in the air when I asked my sister in law Erin, and her boyfriend Jansen to take part in this shoot. No acting here. They showed their true love for each other. We set up a table for 2 in an alcove, right at the front of the restaurant, giving it that much needed privacy. Love how we were able to capture the restaurant’s logo in the background!
