Glam Baby Shower Sweet Table

Glam Baby Shower Sweet Table

Baby Bash!

A few weeks ago I got to set up the most glam of baby shower sweet tables. It was a Baby Bash for a lovely couple expecting their first baby. I met with the mommy-to-be and her Mommy to discuss the upcoming celebration. They are such a beautiful family! Easy going and just wanted everyone to have a good time.

They decided on a trendy theme: Black, White and Gold, dînatoire style menu: cocktail service and a sweet table to finish it off! This baby shower is on trend!

This was not your typical blue or pink set up and party. This was sophistication and glam all rolled up with their very own cocktail drink.

The Desserts!

There was a variety of desserts to please even the not so sweet tooth. I typically add 3 types of desserts per person on my sweet tables so that each person can taste at least one dessert and that there are enough for everyone. Some might think it’s too much, but in the end my clients always tell me that there was just enough.

For this baby bash we did 5 types with different flavours. I made glitter and gold cake pops, chocolate pretzel sticks, mini cupcakes, oreo gems and dessert shots: tiramisu and cheesecake mousse. YUMMY!

The Cake:

Sequins Gold Tier… Need I say more!

The Final Details:

The rest, as they say, is in the details 🙂 Straws with bow ties, baby topper and water bottle wraps to match the invitation, to match the invitation, and lots of candy to much on when the desserts were all eaten lol. I love how detailed the parents and grandparents were. They made sure that the guests were there to have a good time and left with a full stomach.

I hope that I’ve been able to inspire you for your next event. Remember that you don’t always have to go with what the crowd is telling you to do. Go with your vibe and your likes. That’s the only way to stand out from the crowd!

Until the next table, stay sweet!

How to style a sweet table – creating a backdrop

How to style a sweet table – creating a backdrop

I hope you enjoyed reading my first instalment on “How to style a sweet table” . I’m constantly thinking of new themes to come up with for upcoming shoots and events. My brain is constantly running :). If it’s all so new to you, start off with a colour palette. Those make a great theme no matter who the party is for.

The next thing you’re going to want to do is decide on the backdrop to your table. I find that a backdrop will add more character and emphasize your theme. There are so many ideas for backdrops, its crazy. If you follow my blog and the tables that i’ve created, you’ll see that I don’t shy away from the bold and unique. And they don’t have to cost a lot either. The most I’ve spent on a backdrop was $20. And that’s having it printed at Costco. (Yes, Costco is a life saver for so many things!)

Here is the Monster High Backdrop that was printed as poster size format:

I found this world map on Instagram while scrolling through my feed. I had to have it for the baby shower theme” Welcome to the World” I was creating for my sister. I spiced it up with some pin wheels. One very simple DIY, but time consuming.

For Valentine’s Day, I created a backdrop with paper rosettes and roses. That actually took a lot of time to make. If you want to go the DIY route, I highly suggest in preplanning. You want to know what you’re going to create and give yourself about a week leeway time. You never know what will come up and if it will end up the way you want it. This way, if you don’t like the outcome, you still have time to create or buy something else.

But my favorite spot to create a sweet table is outside. What better backdrop then the ocean, woods or city scape to add character to your sweet table!

My wedding styled photo shoot was right in my backyard. I loved the fact that I used the woods right outside my door to create a wimsical feel.

There are so many ways to create something unique and sweet for your table. A striking backdrop is the perfect element to incorporate your creativeness (as per my idol Amy Atlas). Why not show it off with a spectacular backdrop to go with your theme!

Until the next table, stay sweet 🙂

She’s building her empire

2014 is coming to a close and I’m feeling that I need to write up a gratitude post. I’m channeling my inner Oprah (because we all have a little bit of her in us) and am listing the things, people and events that I’m grateful for for this year.

First I am grateful for for my family! The support, chaos and love that I get from them is my greatest accomplishment. From my kids, to my husband, to my mom, dad and my siblings. My life is nothing without them. They make me go that extra mile. Always!

Welcome to the World

Back in March, I had the pleasure of creating my sister’s baby shower sweet table. It was to be a surprise, so my other sister (we’re 4 girls and 2 boys in the fam) we’re going crazy trying to figure out what theme we could do. It was between a Tiffany’s theme or travel theme. We asked mommy to be and she chose travel (of course that was my idea 🙂 ). So this is where the planning process began! We both set out to find unique ideas and accessories to use ,not only add to the theme but ones that she’ll be able to use in the baby’s room.

I found the backdrop on instagram through this really cool shop, that sadly is no longer there.
